ICC DIGITAL STANDARDS INITIATIVE LAUNCHES COMPLETE FRAMEWORK FOR SUPPLY CHAIN DIGITALISATION
The Digital Standards Initiative (DSI) of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has launched a complete framework for end-to-end supply chain digitalisation, based on its 18-month analysis covering all 36 key trade documents.

NEW INTERACTIVE WEBPAGE ON IMPACT OF CEF TRANSPORT
As part of the activities linked to the 10th anniversary of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) Programme, CINEA has launched a new interactive webpage to showcase its contribution to greening and decarbonising the transport sector. CEF is a key EU funding instrument for delivering the European Green Deal and an important enabler for the Union’s decarbonisation objectives for 2030 and 2050.

PARLIAMENT APPROVES TEN-T AGREEMENT IN PLENARY
On 24 April, the European Parliament in plenary voted in favour of the provisional agreement on the revised Regulation concerning EU guidelines for the development of the trans-European transport network (TEN-T).

EP VOTES FOR BAN ON PRODUCTS MADE WITH FORCED LABOUR FROM EU SINGLE MARKET
At the end of April, the European Parliament in Plenary voted in favour of a new regulation to prohibit the sale, import, and export of goods produced with forced labour, marking a significant step in the fight against global human rights abuses.

EU READY TO NEGOTIATE EXTENSION OF ROAD TRANSPORT AGREEMENT WITH UKRAINE
On 29 April, the Council of the EU formally authorised the Commission to negotiate the prolongation of the road freight transport agreement with Ukraine. The agreement, first signed in June 2022 and extended until June 2024 grants bilateral transport rights to Ukrainian and EU hauliers in each other’s territories.

SHIPPING COOPERATION AGREEMENTS NOW FALL UNDER GENERAL COMPETITION RULES
25 April 2024 marked the end of the Consortia Block Exemption Regulation (CBER), under which shipping lines were exempted from competition rules when entering consortia under a certain market threshold. From this date, cooperation agreements between carriers fall under the general competition rules of Article 101(3) of the Treaty of the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU).

Organised by the Smart Freight Centre and gathering more than 550 participants, the three-day conference was the opportunity to take stock of the progress made by the freight transport community in its journey towards a decarbonised future.

EC FITNESS CHECK OF EU AIRPORT LEGISLATION
The European Commission has launched a fitness check on EU legislation that regulates EU airport capacity and infrastructure in the Single Market.
