US EAST COAST PORTS FACE IMMINENT DOCKWORKERS STRIKE
United States East coast ports are expected to close their activities entirely as they face a potential dockworkers’ strike on 1st October, which have been called by the International Longshoreman’s Association (ILA), representing over 85,000 dockworkers over a labour agreement dispute. Around 36 ports from New Jersey to Puerto Rico including five of the ten busiest ports in North America, would be paralysed.

US TSA NEW REQUIREMENTS ON ESTABLISHED BUSINESS RELATION
Following the introduction of an emergency amendment by the US Transport Security Administration (TSA) to the Cargo Security Directive No. 1544-24-02, stricter security requirements have been implemented for cargo shipments on passenger carriers traveling to or through the country, originating from Europe and CIS states.

GERMAN CHANCELLOR CALLS FOR DELAY IMPLEMENTATION EUDR
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is advocating for a delay in implementing the new EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) aimed at preventing the sale of products linked to deforestation. Speaking at a conference in Berlin, Scholz revealed that he has discussed the issue with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, reports POLITICO.

GERMANY IMPOSES LAND BORDER CONTROLS
The German Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community (BMI) informed the European Commission earlier this week that it has ordered the temporary reintroduction of border control at Germany’s land borders with France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark for six months, starting 16 September 2024.
