HORIZON EUROPE WORK PROGRAMME FOR 2023-2024 PUBLISHED
The Commission adopted this week the main Horizon Europe work programme for 2023-24, with around €13.5 billion to support researchers and innovators in Europe in advancing EU’s climate goals, increasing energy resilience, and developing core digital technologies.

EC SET TO BOOST SOLIDARY LANE FINANCING
During a speech earlier this week at a conference co-organised with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) about financing Solidarity Lanes - the new logistical routes for Ukraine, Transport Commissioner Adina Vălean confirmed future EU investment in Solidarity Lanes to Ukraine and Moldova.

ELP EVENT ON NEW EU URBAN MOBILITY FRAMEWORK
At the latest high-level European Logistics Platform (ELP) event organised on 7 December, some 50 EU policymakers and industry stakeholders met in Brussels to debate the new EU Urban Mobility Framework and the opportunities for collaboration and innovation between cities and freight transport and logistics operators.

CLECAT ROAD LOGISTICS INSTITUTE MEETS
The CLECAT Road Logistics Institute met today to exchange views on developments affecting road transport and logistics at national and EU level. Members discussed the issues related to the shortage of drivers, the revision of the Weights and Dimensions Directive as well as policy developments with regards to the Fit for 55 Package.

€490 BILLION NEEDED FOR THE TEN-T RAIL UNTIL 2050
According to the d-fine study called ‘the Roadmap to Zero Carbon Combined Transport 2050’ presented on behalf of UIRR at a webinar on the 30th November, a public investment of € 490 billion is needed into the TEN-T rail infrastructure in order to handle the growing volume of rail freight until 2050.

IATA RELEASES DATA FOR OCTOBER 2022 AIR CARGO MARKETS
IATA released data for October 2022 global air cargo markets, challenging the usual increase in the run-up to December when the industry enters its peak season. Global demand fell 13.6% compared to October 2021 (-13.5% for international operations). Capacity was 0.6% below October 2021. This was the first year-on-year contraction since April 2022, however, month-on-month capacity increased by 2.4% in preparation for the year-end peak season. International cargo capacity grew 2.4% compared to October 2021.

COUNCIL AND PARLIAMENT AGREE ON THE INCLUSION OF MARITIME EMISSIONS IN EU ETS

COUNCIL ADOPTS GENERAL APPROACH ON TEN-T REGULATION
Following the endorsement in COREPER on 25 November, Transport ministers today, adopted the Council’s general approach on the Commission proposal for a TEN-T Regulation.

ITF GLOBAL MARITIME LOGISTICS DIALOGUE (GMLD)
CLECAT joined the meeting of the Global Maritime Logistics Dialogue (GMLD) in Paris on the 2nd of December organised by the International Transport Forum. CLECAT has been an integral part of the ITF Global Maritime Logistics Dialogue (GMLD) which was launched in May 2019, which gathered shippers, forwarders, carriers, ports and terminals from Europe and beyond.
