CLECAT ATTENDS BERLIN EFTI CONFERENCE

CLECAT took part in the 2025 eFTI4EU and eFTI4ALL Joint Yearly Conference, titled Tomorrow’s Freight Transport, held on 21 October at the German Federal Ministry of Transport in Berlin. Supported by the German Ministry, the event brought together representatives from the European Commission, national administrations, technology providers and the logistics industry to discuss how digital regulation, with the eFTI Regulation at its core, is reshaping the future of freight transport in Europe.

The conference featured keynote speeches from the German Parliamentary State Secretary Christian Hirte, DG MOVE Director-General Magda Kopczyńska, and senior officials from BALM and Toll Collect, followed by demonstrations and discussions showing how eFTI can contribute to more efficient, transparent and sustainable logistics processes, particularly in cross-border operations.

From CLECAT’s perspective, the transition to eFTI marks an essential step towards modern, paperless logistics, but its success depends on more than just technological readiness. eFTI across Europe means less paperwork and smarter data exchange, more transparency and efficiency in logistics, and stronger collaboration between business and authorities. While Member States are moving towards readiness, this transformation will only succeed if businesses are equally prepared. The benefits for economic operators must be made clearer, and they will need guidance and support to adapt.  Above all, a “circle of trust” between administrations, technology providers and logistics companies must be built to ensure eFTI delivers real value for all and strengthens Europe’s connected logistics ecosystem.

CLECAT continues to advocate for a pragmatic and business-oriented implementation of eFTI, ensuring that freight forwarders and logistics service providers are not only ready for digital transformation but also positioned to benefit from it.

As an active member of the Digital Transport and Logistics Forum (DTLF), CLECAT works closely with the European Commission and stakeholders across Europe to promote interoperable, practical and business-driven digital solutions for the transport and logistics sector.
