EC ADOPTS CBAM IMPLEMENTING REGULATION
On 17 August, the European Commission adopted the rules governing the implementation of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) during its transitional phase, set to commence on 1 October of this year and runs until the end of 2025.

UK MAY ANNOUNCE DELAY OF SPS CHECKS ON IMPORT ONCE AGAIN
According to a report in the Financial Times (3 August), the introduction of a new regime for checks on imports of animal and plant goods from the EU (and the rest of the world) into the UK, the so-called sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) checks scheduled to come into force in October this year, will be further delayed.

EXPORT OF UKRAINIAN GRAIN IS COMPROMISED BY END OF UN DEAL AND DRONE STRIKES ON DANUBE PORTS
Over the summer, several events severely impacted the export of Ukrainian agricultural goods. Russia first announced that the Black Sea grain corridor agreement, reached a year ago after mediation by the UN and Türkiye was not renewed and expired on 17 July.

SWEDEN ANNOUNCES 590KM HIGH-CAPACITY VEHICLE ROAD NETWORK
As of 1 December 2023, Sweden will allow longer high-capacity vehicles, up to 34.5 meters in length, on approximately 590 kilometres of state roads. Today, the maximum length for trucks in Sweden is 25.25 metres. During Spring this year, the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) carried out consultations with stakeholders and municipalities.
