ITALY REIMBURSES RAIL FREIGHT COMPANIES FOR LOSSES DUE TO COVID-19
Following the approval of recovery funds by the European Commission in June, the Italian government has implemented a scheme on 16 September to compensate rail freight companies for the losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

NEW SYSTEM ASSESSES ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE OF AIR NAVIGATION SERVICES
According to the 2021 report by the independent Performance Review Body (PRB) for the Single European Sky (SES), Air Traffic Management (ATM) in nine EU Member States has improved, in environmental terms, while it has declined or remained stable in 10. For the first time, the report uses a traffic light system to indicate environmental performance.

AIR TRAFFIC RECOVERY APPROACHING PRE-PANDEMIC LEVELS
The latest analysis of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has revealed that air transport seat capacity and passenger totals globally have reached an estimated 80% of pre-pandemic levels, with passenger revenue at around 72% of its 2019 high point.
