MARITIME LOGISTICS INSTITUTE MEETS
Members of the CLECAT Maritime Logistics Institute met today to discuss the latest developments in maritime freight transport, focusing on the implementation of ICS2 Release 3 for maritime transport, ETS Maritime, ongoing disruptions in the maritime logistics supply chain, and issues related to demurrage and detention.

ECJ ANNULS THE RETURN OF THE VEHICLE PROVISION
The Court of Justice of the European Union published today its judgment in the case brought by seven Member States (Bulgaria, Cyprus, Hungary, Lithuania, Malta, Poland and Romania) challenging some provisions of the Mobility Package I adopted in 2020. While the court confirms most of the provisions of this legislation package, it annulled the obligation requiring vehicles to return on the Member state of establishment every eight weeks.

LOGISTICS FOR EUROPE 2024: RETHINKING SUPPLY CHAINS
On 19 November, CLECAT and ESC will host the third Logistics for Europe 2024 event at the Representation of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia to the EU. Entitled ‘Rethinking Supply Chains,’ the event will bring together shippers, freight forwarders, and other stakeholders in the supply chain, as well as European lawmakers, for a constructive dialogue on the challenges facing European industry.

ENISA REPORT ON CYBERSECURITY THREATS IN 2024

EC REPORT ON BENEFITS OF COMPETITION IN RAIL TRANSPORT
A study released by the European Commission earlier this week highlights the user benefits of competition in both passenger rail and rail freight services. It reveals that increased competition in the EU rail market has resulted in significant reductions in ticket prices for rail passengers and in freight transportation costs.

EXTENSION OF DEADLINE FOR SURVEY ON MOBILITY PACKAGE I
Transport & Mobility Leuven and the University of Antwerp, in charge of drawing up a study on the implementation of the First Mobility Package and the current status of the European Road Haulage Market announced that the deadline to answer the survey gathering stakeholder information has been extended until Friday 4 October.
