CLECAT position paper on the revision of CO2 standards for cars and vans
CLECAT welcomes the Commission’s call for evidence and public consultation on the future revision of the Regulation on CO2 standards for light-duty vehicles. This revision is a crucial step to align EU climate objectives with the practical needs of the freight transport sector, which still faces financial and operational hurdles to fully embrace net-zero solutions. Light-commercial vehicles or vans, represent a significant share of activity of the freight transport sector, given the increasing importance of last-mile delivery and urban logistics. To accelerate the adoption of zero-emission solutions, standards should be adopted that are realistic, technology-neutral, and supported by the right conditions. This position paper outlines key recommendations to ensure a successful transition to zero-emission vans.
