EP PUBLISHES REPORT ON RESILIENCE OF RAIL TRANSPORT
On 12 May, the European Parliament released a report titled "Stress-testing to promote the resilience of EU policies", which focused on how stress-testing policies can help the institution to better contribute to the agenda-setting and law-making process in the EU. This report in particular focused on stress-test conducted on EU rail transport policy.

FINLAND NOMINATES CANDIDATE FOR IMO SECRETARY GEENRAL
The Finnish government has nominated Ms Minna Kivimäki as candidate for the position of Secretary General of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). The term of the present Secretary General, Mr. Kitack Lim of the Republic of Korea, ends on 31 December 2023.

TRAN BACKS TRIALOGUE AGREEMENTS ON AFIR AND REFUELEU MARITIME
On May 24, MEPs of the TRAN Committee backed the agreement on mandatory deployment of alternative fuel infrastructure for cars and trucks (AFIR) and on cleaner maritime fuels (RefuelEU maritime).

TRANSPORT COUNCIL TO DEBATE BRENNER SITUATION
The next Transport Council meeting will take place on 1st June in Luxembourg. Transport Ministers of the EU will have the opportunity to exchange on current EU-related transport and prepare for the next Presidency which will be held by Spain.

ECTA-UIRR JOINT POSITION PAPER ON COMBINED TRANSPORT
The European Clean Trucking Alliance (ECTA), of which CLECAT is a member, and the International Union for Road-Rail Combined Transport (UIRR) issued a joint position paper on the use of zero-emission trucks in combined transport operations.

CLECAT WEBINAR ON HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE EFTI REGULATION
On 16 May, CLECAT organised a webinar on the electronic Freight Transport Information (eFTI) Regulation. The main objective of the webinar was to create a common understanding of how to incorporate eFTI in business operations and how freight forwarders should plan for this to reap the benefits.

CLECAT POLICY RESPONSE ON REVISION ON CO2 STANDARDS FOR HDV
CLECAT has published its policy response to the Commission proposal revising the CO2 standards for new heavy-duty vehicles. The proposal aims to strengthen the CO2 standards for new trucks and buses, to reach 90% emission reduction by 2040, with intermediate targets for 2030 (43%) and 2035 (64%).

MOLDOVA JOINS EU’S CEF PROGRAM
On 9 May, Transport Commissioner Vălean and Moldova's Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Lilia Dabija, signed an agreement in Chisinau, associating Moldova to the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program. The agreement will allow Moldova to apply for EU funding for projects of common interest in the transport, energy, and digital sectors.

EU IMPOSES TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS ON UKRAINIAN PRODUCTS
On 2 May, the European Commission imposed temporary restriction on the import of wheat, maize, rapeseed, and sunflower seed from Ukraine in Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania. The primary objective of these restrictions is to alleviate the logistical bottlenecks experienced in these five countries due to the influx of Ukrainian products. Transit will not be affected by these restrictions.
