NEW PARLIAMENTARY TERM KICKS OFF IN STRASBOURG
On 16 July, the 10th Parliamentary Term of the European Parliament started off in Strasbourg with the re-election of Roberta Metsola (EPP, MT) as President of the Parliament. On Thursday, MEPs re-elected Ursula von der Leyen as President of the European Commission, after having been nominated by the European Council at the end of June.
Next week, the first session of the different Parliamentary Committees
will take place in Brussels, where MEPs will elect the Committee Chairs and
group coordinators. Legislative proceedings will then resume, including the
hearings of Commissioners designated by Member States before the formal
approval of the Commission towards the end of the year.
