EU AND AZERBAIJAN HOLD SECOND HIGH-LEVEL TRANSPORT DIALOGUE

On 9 October, the European Commission and the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan held the second High-Level Transport Dialogue, co-chaired by Minister Rashad Nabiyev and Director-General Magda Kopczyńska.

The discussions covered all modes of transport with particular focus on digitalisation and sustainability. Regional connectivity was a central topic, highlighting Azerbaijan’s strategic role as a bridge between Central Asia and Europe and its growing importance for interregional trade and cooperation.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation, particularly on connectivity, digitalisation, and aviation. Participants stressed the value of sustained dialogue and joint initiatives to ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable transport links between the EU, Azerbaijan, and the wider region. Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, Mr Apostolos Tzitzikostas, said the dialogue reaffirmed the shared ambition to build smarter, more sustainable, and better-connected transport links between Europe and Asia, strengthening regional cooperation through a common commitment to connectivity and digitalisation.

Next steps include further strengthening the partnership, exploring new areas of joint work, and advancing greener and smarter transport solutions.
