COMMISSION LAUNCHES MARKET READINESS SURVEY FOR CUSTOMS IT SERVICE PROVIDERS
The European Commission has launched a market survey inviting IT service providers to share their expertise in preparation for the future EU Customs Data Hub. The Hub will form a large-scale, secure, multi-cloud turnkey system designed to manage cross-border e-commerce flows more efficiently and securely, becoming a cornerstone of the EU’s digital customs infrastructure.
The consultation, open until 10 October, is intended to assess the market’s readiness to deliver on the demanding technical, security and scalability requirements of the project. It also seeks views on preferred delivery modalities – including multi-cloud architecture and turnkey solutions – as well as potential challenges in deploying such a complex system. Responses will shape the upcoming competitive dialogue procurement procedure, planned for 2025.
By engaging in this process, IT service providers can help influence the design of an advanced system that will support the implementation of the EU Customs Reform and strengthen the EU’s digital single market. Contributions will be crucial in ensuring the system complies with EU regulatory standards, cybersecurity protocols and the evolving needs of global trade and e-commerce.
