CLECAT ROAD LOGISTICS INSTITUTE MEETS

The CLECAT Road Logistics Institute met this week to exchange on key regulatory and operational issues impacting Europe’s road freight sector. The meeting focused on subcontracting practices, upcoming social rules for light-duty vehicles, and the decarbonisation of the road freight sector, all of which are set to shape the industry’s future.

ZEV TARGETS FOR CORPORATE FLEETS: A RISK TO EUROPE’S LOGISTICS SECTOR

CLECAT reiterates its strong opposition to the introduction of zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) targets for corporate fleets, including for shippers and large transport buyers, as stated in its position paper issued last month. Representing a broad and diverse membership of companies of all sizes across freight forwarding, logistics, and customs services, we argue that such mandates risk creating market distortions, increasing operational costs, and ultimately undermining Europe’s decarbonisation goals.

LOGISTICS FOR EUROPE EVENT: SECURING GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAINS: FROM RISK AWARENESS TO RESILIENCE

CLECAT and the European Shippers’ Council (ESC) are pleased to announce the 4th edition of the Logistics for Europe conference, which will take place on 13 November 2025 at the Stanhope Hotel in Brussels.

CLECAT ATTENDS ECCG MEETING

CLECAT participated in the Electronic Customs Coordination Group (ECCG) meeting on 2–3 October. The ECCG, an expert group of the European Commission, brings together Member State customs authorities and trade stakeholders to support the modernisation and digitalisation of EU customs.

COMMISSION LAUNCHES MARKET READINESS SURVEY FOR CUSTOMS IT SERVICE PROVIDERS

The European Commission has launched a market survey inviting IT service providers to share their expertise in preparation for the future EU Customs Data Hub. The Hub will form a large-scale, secure, multi-cloud turnkey system designed to manage cross-border e-commerce flows more efficiently and securely, becoming a cornerstone of the EU’s digital customs infrastructure.

EC PRESENTS AMENDED PROPOSAL TO EUROVIGNETTE DIRECTIVE

On 2 October, the European Commission published an amended proposal on the Eurovignette Directive aiming to clarify and simplify the existing framework.
