CLECAT WELCOMES REFUEL EU AVIATION AGREEMENT

CLECAT welcomes the provisional agreement reached, on 25 April, between the European Parliament and the Council on RefuelEU Aviation. The agreement is a significant step towards achieving the EU's climate targets and providing clarity to stakeholders on the future of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF).

NEW US DRAFT BILL TO CONTROL AGREEMENTS BETWEEN OCEAN CARRIERS

Early this week, US representative John Garamendi (Democrat, California) introduced the “Ocean Shipping Competition Enforcement Act” in Congress, aimed at blocking anticompetitive alliances between ocean carriers.

ENVI COMMITTEE DISCUSSES CO2 STANDARDS FOR HDV

On 26 April, the European Parliament’s ENVI Committee met to exchange views with the Commission on the proposal strengthening the CO2 standards for new heavy-duty vehicles (HDVs).

EU AND NORWAY ESTABLISH GREEN ALLIANCE

On 24 April, the EU and Norway signed an agreement establishing a Green Alliance to strengthen their joint efforts on climate action, environmental protection, and cooperation on clean energy and industrial transition.

COST-BENEFIT ANALYSIS DETERMINES UNFEASIBILITY OF FINNISH TEN-T CONVERSION

The Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications has recently published a report on the opportunities provided by the introduction of the standard European track gauge in the country. The report determined that the cost of transitioning the entire Finnish TEN-T network from narrow gauge to the standard European gauge is too high, and the benefits would not be significant.
