POLAND HOSTS HIGH LEVEL DIALOGUE ON TRANSPORT LINKS FROM UKRAINE TO EUROPE
A High-level Dialogue with transport ministers from several ITF member countries was held on 29-30 March 2023 in Rzeszów-Jasionka, Poland. The theme of the conference was "Connecting Ukraine with Europe and the World: Rebuilding and Developing Sustainable Transport Infrastructure and Efficient Supply Chains".

OCEAN CARRIERS WAIVE D&D CHARGES AHEAD OF FMC RULING
The Loadstar reported this week that several shipping lines have ceased charging cargo owners and truckers on days when terminals are closed. Ocean carriers are currently facing regulatory pressure in the US on D&D charges which have fuelled US shippers’ protest in the last years.

EC PUBLISHES NEW STATE AID GUIDANCE TO SUPPORT GREEN TRANSITION
On 4 April, the European Commission updated State aid guidance to assist Member States in designing measures that contribute to the implementation of the European Green Deal, help end the dependence on Russian fossil fuels, and fast-forward the green transition as set out in the REPowerEU Plan. The measures will be included in their national Recovery and Resilience Plans (RRPs), in line with EU State aid rules.

CNR ISSUES STUDY ON ROAD TAXES AND CHARGES IN EUROPE
On 29 March, the Comité National Routier (CNR) – a French observatory on European road transport – published a report on a European overview of levies (road taxes and charges) specifically applied to heavy goods vehicles: vignettes and tolls, axle tax and excise duties applicable to diesel.
