ZEFES STAKEHOLDER SYMPOSIUM 2024
On 23 October, CLECAT participated in the ZEFES Stakeholder Symposium, which took place at Volvo Group headquarters in Gothenburg. The meeting aimed to assess the progress made on the ZEFES project and reflect on main opportunities and challenges related to the decarbonisation of long-haul road freight transport across Europe.
The ZEFES (Zero Emission flexible vehicle platforms with modular powertrains serving the long-haul Freight Eco System) project gathers over 30 partners from the whole logistics supply chain (OEMs, shippers, logistics operators and research partners) working toward the integration of ZEVs for long distance heavy transport. In Q2 2025, nine different vehicle concepts (5 BEV and 4 FCEV) will run over 1 million kilometres across EU corridors in real daily operations, guided and validated by a digital platform developed within the project.
CLECAT’s policy advisor Quentin Donnadille delivered a keynote presentation at the close of the Symposium summarising the preceding panel discussions and reflecting on the future challenges for the project and the road freight sector in general. He highlighted that the project aims to provide valuable insights into the development of zero-emission trucking in Europe. The upcoming launch of the real-world tests will help partners and stakeholders to better understand the needs and requirements of the industry, and to assess how policymakers can help in providing the necessary enabling conditions.
