CLECAT AIR AND SECURITY INSTITUTE MEET
On 28 October, CLECAT’s Supply Chain Security Institute convened to discuss recent EU developments in land transport and aviation security. Members received updates on the Safe and Secure Parking Area (SSTPA) study's preliminary results and the newly opened CEF funding call for SSTPAs. The Institute also held an exchange of views on ICS2 Release 2 and 3 developments, with a focus on CLECAT’s efforts to inform members on the upcoming Release 3 deployment and its impact for the maritime sector. The Institute discussed recent air cargo security emergency amendments implemented by U.S. authorities in response to incidents occurring within the EU over the summer.
In the
afternoon, CLECAT’s Air Freight Logistics Institute addressed key legislative
and non-legislative issues, alongside discussions on aviation security,
sustainability, and digitalisation. Members shared perspectives on the recent
U.S. air cargo security amendments, emphasising the need for policymakers, from
both sides of the Atlantic, to consult with stakeholders to prevent new
security measures from disrupting freight forwarders’ operations and the global
supply chain. The Institute also welcomed a representative from IATA who presented progress with ONE Record, a standard
for data sharing to
achieve maximum transparency and a high degree of digitalization along the air
cargo supply chain.
