CLECAT will join the Smart Freight Week in Amsterdam next week from 18-20 April. The conference organised by Smart Freight Centre will be an opportunity for the logistics industry to get together and exchange knowledge associated with the latest developments tied to reducing GHG emissions originating from freight and logistics.

EC WORKSHOP ON SLOTS REGULATION
CLECAT will join the workshop on the EU Slots Regulation impact assessment taking place on 18 April in Brussels. The event, organised by DG MOVE, will give the floor to the Commission’s consultants on the review of the EU Slots Regulation, to present progress made so far and policy options identified. The event will also allow for an exchange of views with stakeholders.

TEN-T REVISION: EP SUPPORTS AN AMBITIOUS TEN-T REGULATION
On 13 April, the Transport and Tourism (TRAN) Committee of the European Parliament adopted its report on the revision of the Regulation on the Trans-European Network (TEN-T). The two Co-Rapporteurs Barbara Thaler (EPP, AT) and Dominique Riquet (Renew, FR), along with the Shadow Rapporteurs, negotiated a comprehensive set of compromise amendments. CLECAT welcomes the high level of ambition shown by TRAN.

IATA RELEASES DATA ON GLOBAL AIR CARGO MARKET IN FEBRUARY
On 4 April, IATA released data on global air cargo demand in February 2023, showing that the demand rose above pre-pandemic levels for the first time in eight months.

DUTCH COURT OVERRULES DECISION TO CAP FLIGHTS AT SCHIPHOL
On 5 April, a Dutch court ruled against the plan of the Dutch government to cut Schiphol airport's flight limit from 500,000 to 460,000 per year as of November 2023. The legal challenge was brought by IATA, KLM and other airlines, which argued that there was no legal basis for the reduction: it violates international treaties and European regulations.
