CLECAT and FIATA published a joint Position Paper on the IMO proposal on mandatory container weighing.

CLECAT and FIATA do not agree that there is a need for mandatory legislation on container weighing. 100% weighing of containers, the vast majority of which will be compliant, is neither practical nor desirable. To get a better understanding of the problem a more detailed study on the problem and the impact of the proposed measures is necessary.
