TRANSPORT COUNCIL MEETING

On 5 December, EU Transport Ministers will come to Brussels to attend the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council meeting which will seek to conclude under the leadership of the Czech Presidency to conclude legislative proceedings on some EU-related transport files.

Member States are expected to adopt a general approach on the revision of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) guidelines. This Regulation should help to provide a sustainable and effective transport network by removing physical interruptions, bottlenecks or missing links by 2050. Ministers will also adopt Council conclusions on the ongoing development of inland waterway transport (NAIADES III programme), which aims to boost the role of inland waterway transport in the EU mobility and logistics system with the core objective to shift more cargo over Europe's rivers and canal to facilitate the transition to zero-emission by 2050.

Furthermore, the Presidency will provide ministers an update on the ongoing trilogue negotiations, namely on the transport-related files of the “Fit for 55” package (AFIR, FuelEU Maritime and ReFuelEU Aviation, CORSIA), the Single European Sky package and the revision of the ITS Directive.
