SFC EXCHANGE NETWORK BECOMES A DEDICATED COMPANY

On 28 November, the Smart Freight Centre announced that the SFC Exchange Network enters its next phase by transitioning to a new dedicated company to scale impact and further increasing the shift towards emissions transparency and logistics decarbonisation.

The SFC Exchange Network aims to facilitate emissions data exchange between actors in the transport logistics sector based on decentralised principles. Transparent and accurate data sharing is critical to overcoming the main challenges of the industry, including limited availability of primary data and difficulties accessing logistics emissions data. The Proof of Concept was completed in July 2023, and expanded pilots are set to be initiated in Q1 2024 with SFC members, eager to become early adopters. An improved API-technology is scheduled for release in January 2024. Solution providers are invited to utilise and connect to the cloud agnostic infrastructure to build purpose driven solutions and enable advanced decarbonisation actions by members.

Discussions are already underway with institutional and strategic investors to secure the necessary funding for this for-profit for-good venture, with a long-term vision to establish a sustainable solution at scale. The newly incorporated company is intended to be based out of Montreal, Canada to better serve the North American market and leveraging the opportunities presented by this new venture.
