HORIZON EUROPE WORK PROGRAMME FOR 2023-2024 PUBLISHED

The Commission adopted this week the main Horizon Europe work programme for 2023-24, with around €13.5 billion to support researchers and innovators in Europe in advancing EU’s climate goals, increasing energy resilience, and developing core digital technologies. The funding will also boost economic resilience, contribute to a sustainable recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and include targeted measures to support Ukraine. More specifically, €5.67 billion will be dedicated on reaching key climate action objectives and over €4.5 billion to support the EU digital transition. €1 billion of direct investments from NextGenerationEU will support Europe’s recovery from the economic and social damage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, nearly €970 million will be invested towards the clean energy transition, increasing Europe’s energy independence from unreliable suppliers and volatile fossil fuels.

Below you will find same examples of the topics open for funding as part of the Horizon Europe programme Cluster 5 (CL5) dealing with Climate, Energy and Mobility that are of interest:

  • EU Member States/Associated countries research policy cooperation network to accelerate zero-emission road mobility
  • Co-designed smart systems and services for user-centred shared zero-emission mobility of people and freight in urban areas
  • Zero-emission e-commerce, freight delivery and return choices by retailers, consumers and local authorities
  • Operational automation to support multimodal freight transport
  • Future-proof GHG and environmental emissions factors for accounting emissions from transport and logistics operations

The full Horizon Europe work programme is available here.

A Horizon Europe Info Day on Cluster 5 – Climate, Energy & Mobility Agenda will be organised on the 15/16 December online. Information and registration is available here.
