GREECE RATIFIES THE E-CMR PROTOCOL

At the end of October, Greece officially adopted the e-CMR Protocol, making it the 35th nation to endorse the digital transition for the carriage of goods. The e-CMR Protocol of 20 February 2008 supplements the 1956 Convention on the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR) and allows the consignment note to be created electronically with legal effect.

From now on, international transports within or passing through Greece will no longer require carrying paper-based consignment note along the entire delivery process. All transport information and signatures can now be seamlessly managed and shared digitally. e-CMR enhances transparency and security throughout the logistics chain, providing real-time access to critical data concerning pick-up and delivery processes. This shift to a digital platform allows for seamless integration with other digital services, offering transport companies greater flexibility in enhancing their logistical operations.
