GERMANY LAUNCHES €1 BILLION SUPPORT SCHEME FOR HDV CHARGING INFRASTRUCTURE
The German Federal Ministry for Transport (BMV) has launched a new funding programme to support the deployment of charging infrastructure for battery-electric heavy-duty vehicles (HDVs). The scheme, which forms part of the Masterplan Charging Infrastructure 2030, foresees a total budget of €1 billion over four years.
The programme supports both non-publicly accessible charging infrastructure in depots and work yards, as well as publicly accessible charging infrastructure at transshipment hubs, in commercial and industrial areas, and on private sites adjacent to federal trunk roads. Funding covers not only the charging infrastructure itself, but also the necessary grid connexion, battery storage systems, and load management systems.
Three initial tenders have been announced: one non-publicly accessible charging infrastructure for SMEs, non-publicly accessible charging infrastructure for all companies, and publicly accessible charging infrastructure each. An initial €200 million will be made available at the launch of the programme, with further calls for proposals expected throughout the four-year duration of the scheme.
