FRENCH GOVERNMENT OPENS €60 MILLION CALL FOR E-TRUCKS ACQUISITION

On 7 April, the French government opened a new call to finance the acquisition of electric heavy-duty vehicles and the corresponding charging infrastructure. The call, managed by the ADEME (French Agency for Ecological Transition), provides €60 million for 2023 and will help economic operators to reduce the cost gap between conventional and electric vehicles.

The fund aims to accelerate the deployment of electric heavy-duty vehicles to decarbonise the main road freight transport flows and urban areas, especially in newly created low-emission zones. Eligible projects will receive an aid of at least 65% of the cost-gap between electric and conventional trucks, with a maximum of €75,000 for N2 trucks (over 4.5 tonnes), €100,000 for N3 trucks and €150,000 for N3 tractor trucks. The fund also provides a maximum aid of 60% of eligible costs for the installation of private charging infrastructure.

Out of the €60 million available for 2023, €35.75 million will be dedicated for electric trucks for the first cut-off date on 9 June. The call will end on 29 September 2023. ADEME will organise a webinar on 24 April from 14:00 to 16:00 CET to answer questions from potential candidates on the rules and procedure of the call.
