EUROPEAN COMMISSION EXPANDS TRAINING FOR CUSTOMS AND TAX PROFESSIONALS

The European Commission has introduced a new course for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and tax officials, alongside an updated version of the SAMANCTA training programme. Announced on 2 March 2026, these initiatives form part of TAXUD’s efforts to strengthen professional competence in customs and taxation across the EU.

The Special Scheme for Small Enterprises course addresses the SME cross-border scheme, effective since 1 January 2025. It covers eligibility criteria for VAT exemption, registration processes, and compliance requirements, while clarifying the scheme’s interaction with the existing VAT framework and the One Stop Shop (OSS) Union scheme.

The revised SAMANCTA programme, designed for customs professionals in both public and private sectors, includes updated navigation and system screenshots. It focuses on the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP), preferential arrangements, and trade agreements, with practical guidance on system operation and safety procedures.

Both courses are accessible via the Customs & Tax EU Learning Portal, providing essential resources for professionals navigating EU customs and tax regulations.
