CONNECTING EUROPE DAYS 2026

Connecting Europe Days 2026, the European Commission’s flagship transport and mobility event, will take place from 29 September to 1 October in Brussels, bringing together policymakers, industry representatives and transport stakeholders to discuss the future of Europe’s transport system.

The programme covers a broad range of issues of particular relevance to freight and logistics, with a strong focus on the implementation of the TEN-T network, resilience, infrastructure investment, digitalisation and the transition towards cleaner transport.

On 29 September, discussions will include the future of rail freight and the implementation of the new rail capacity framework, as well as new market opportunities for inland waterway transport. The afternoon plenary will focus on transport networks responding to military needs and emerging security threats, followed by a high-level discussion on ports and the maritime sector in transition.

The programme on 30 September will turn to several of the major challenges facing freight transport today. Sessions will examine how innovation can improve the efficiency and resilience of TEN-T, the deployment and financing of recharging and refueling infrastructure for zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles, and progress on sustainable aviation and marine fuels. Other discussions will address the role of ports as digital autonomy hubs for EU economic security and the resilience of the trans-European transport network to hazards and threats. A DG MOVE high-level roundtable on ‘Safe Truck Parking as the Backbone of Resilient and Green Road Freight Corridors’ will also take place from 11:00 to 12:30.

CLECAT will contribute directly to the programme by joining the panel of the session ‘Making Transport Emissions Count with CountEmissionsEU’, taking place on 30 September from 09:00 to 10:30. The discussion comes at an important moment following the publication of Regulation (EU) 2026/1030 on greenhouse gas emissions accounting of transport services in the Official Journal on 5 May 2026.

An accompanying marketplace on 29 and 30 September will showcase EU-funded projects and practical solutions aimed at making European transport infrastructure safer, smarter and more sustainable.

Participation in Connecting Europe Days is free of charge. The programme is available here. Registration is open until 15 September 2026.
