CLEVER PROJECT LAUNCHES OPEN CALL FOR REAL-WORLD EMISSION FACTOR APPLICATIONS

The CLEVER project recently opened a call for organisations to demonstrate how its emission factors and methodology can be applied to real-world transport and logistics scenarios. The initiative aims to refine and standardise a framework for calculating GHG emissions, which will be integrated into the CountEmissionsEU regulation.

Open to all legal entities in eligible countries, the call invites participants to propose use cases across five scenarios: emission calculation, accounting and reporting, conformity assessment, climate mitigation actions, and an open category for innovative applications. Each selected organisation will receive expert coaching, visibility, and capacity-building support, with an expected commitment of 5–6 days over the course of 2026.

Applicants can choose from scenarios such as calculating customised emission factors, aligning reporting with frameworks like the GHG Protocol or ISO 14083, or assessing climate mitigation strategies in logistics operations. The call also highlights opportunities to explore chain-of-custody systems like "book and claim" for renewable fuels, ensuring compatibility with emerging sustainability standards.

The Open Call is open until 30 January 2026, with selected participants beginning coaching in March 2026. Interested organisations must submit proposals via an application form, followed by a detailed use case template. Successful applicants will benefit from tailored support, training, and recognition through CLEVER’s communication channels, contributing to the development of a robust, standardised approach to emission calculations in transport and logistics.
