CLECAT HIGHLIGHTS AVIATION SECURITY PRIORITIES AT TIACA REGIONAL SYMPOSIUM

On 28 June, CLECAT participated in a panel discussion on safety, security and regulatory issues in Europe at The International Air Cargo Association’s (TIACA) Regional Symposium Europe, highlighting the freight forwarding industry’s views on the current legislative framework, as well as the challenges ahead.

Safe and secure air cargo is among the industry’s top priorities and, with increasingly complex supply chains transporting higher volumes of time- and temperature-sensitive cargo, compliance is a key enabler of efficient transport networks. The panel therefore discussed changes in the regulatory environment, their impact on the industry, as well as the utilisation of digitalisation. CLECAT highlighted the challenges and opportunities ahead with the implementation of the Import Control System 2.0 (ICS2), which will start on 1 March 2023 for general air cargo and require all goods entering the EU to be subject to pre-loading filing requirements, as well as complete pre-arrival ENS data requirements. Additional topics highlighted by CLECAT included the EU Background Check Regime in the aviation security domain, expected changes in view of increasing the fight against counterfeiting, as well as the opportunities ahead for freight forwarders in the area of digitalisation relating to the Regulation on electronic freight transport information (eFTI).

The symposium also discussed sustainability, capacity challenges, market outlook, needs and expectations of shippers, as well as digitalisation.
