CLECAT DIGITALISATION WORKING GROUP MEETS
On 27 October, CLECAT’s Digitalisation Working Group met to exchange views on ongoing EU digital transport initiatives, including the latest progress on the Electronic Freight Transport Information (eFTI) Regulation and developments related to the eCMR.
Discussions focused on recent developments regarding the eFTI Regulation, following CLECAT’s participation in the eFTI4EU – eFTI4ALL Yearly Conference in Berlin. The full-day event explored the practical implications of eFTI for freight logistics across Europe, showcasing how digital transformation is enabling interoperability and end-to-end digitalisation throughout the logistics supply chain. Members highlighted the need for pragmatic implementation of digitalisation policies, with a focus on interoperability, transparency, and support from competent authorities. It was agreed that digitalisation will inevitably reshape business models and that CLECAT should continue to guide and support this transition.
The Working Group also received an update from FIATA on the operationalisation of the eCMR under GE.22. Members underlined the importance for CLECAT to continue monitoring developments on the eCMR legal framework, as both the eCMR and the eFTI Regulation are complementary initiatives pursuing the common objective of enabling paperless freight transport.
