AUSTRIA ADOPTS E-CMR PROTOCOL
On 6 August, the e-CMR protocol entered into force in Austria, becoming the 36th country to join to protocol, paving the way for digital, paperless road freight transport within the country. With Austria's accession, any road transport involving the country can now be fully digitised, allowing for seamless and efficient operations and administration. This significant step enables shippers, transport companies and freight forwarders to immediately use the e-CMR for their shipments.
The e-CMR protocol offers several advantages, including the elimination of paperwork, which reduces handling costs and administrative delays. Additionally, it improves accuracy in tracing shipments, providing real-time access to pick-up and delivery information, which enhances overall transparency and security within the logistics chain.
