WORLD CUSTOMS DAY: STATEMENT BY MEMBERS OF THE TRADE CONTACT GROUP ADVISING DG TAXUD
World Customs Day was celebrated on 26 January. On this day, 21 Trade Associations, members of the European Commission's Trade Contact Group (TCG) issued a joint statement congratulating customs worldwide, subscribing to this year's theme of World Customs Day – ‘Nurturing the Next Generation: Promoting a Culture of Knowledge Sharing and Professional Pride in Customs’. European firms, unified in TCG fully support and endorse this theme. Customs education and training are the pillars of compliant, effective, and efficient international trade.
2023 is a crucial year for the future of customs in
Europe. Strategic proposals are imminent on the Review of the Union Customs
Code and crucial eCustoms systems will start going live throughout the next
twelve months. CLECAT, as part of the Trade Contact Group, looks forward to
working closely with the European Commission & Member States to ensure a
modern, global customs environment for trade.
