EU AND MOLDOVA SIGN AGREEMENTS TO ENHANCE TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE
On 26 October, the European Union and Moldova signed three grant agreements worth €45 million under the Connecting Europe Facility for Transport, with the aim to bolster their transportation links.
The primary objective of these agreements is to modernise transportation infrastructure along the trans-European transport network (TEN-T) in both Moldova and the Member States Romania. These projects target key road border crossing points and seek to strengthen the EU-Ukraine Solidarity Lanes. More specifically, they encompass various initiatives, including road upgrades, optimisation of traffic flow management at border crossings, and expansion of parking facilities.
Adina Vălean, Commissioner for
Transport, stressed the significance of this collaboration, highlighting that
these projects will significantly increase capacity and improve traffic flows
along the Romania-Moldova border.
