CLECAT DISCUSSES PRIORITIES IN DIGITALISATION

On 30 June, CLECAT held a meeting of its Digitalisation Working Group to discuss progress on Regulation 2020/1056 on electronic freight transport information (eFTI Regulation), the work of the DTLF Subgroup 1, as well as the CLECAT priorities in the area of digitalisation.

Ms Lia Potec, Policy Officer at the European Commission’s DG MOVE, and special guest to the meeting, presented the key provisions and the state of play of the implementation of the eFTI Regulation. Ms Potec presented the vision of how the eFTI Regulation will work in practice, its relationship with transport documents, as well as its implementation and application timeline.

A presentation was also received on the work of the Digital Transport and Logistics Forum’s (DTLF) Subgroup 1, which is the formal Expert Group advising and assisting the European Commission in the creation and implementation of the eFTI supporting legislation. Mr Dominique Willems, the rapporteur of DTLF Subgroup 1, presented the significant progress that has been made within the group so far on the data-, functional- and technical aspects. This included, inter alia, the current draft version of the eFTI Data Requirements, to which CLECAT had provided input in the initial review cycle. Additionally, he provided an overview of the upcoming work within the DTLF Subgroup 1 relating to the implementation and certification aspects of the eFTI Regulation, and outlined the opportunities for CLECAT members to contribute to these efforts.

CLECAT members used the opportunity to have an exchange of views with the experts on the practical aspects of the eFTI implementation and the ongoing work of the DTLF SG1.  Finally, the working group discussed the involvement of CLECAT in the future work of the DTLF, focusing particularly on its practical implementation, as well as the priorities of CLECAT in the area of digitalisation.
