CLECAT AND OLF TO HOST WEBINAR ON DIGITALISING LOGISTICS THROUGH OPEN SOURCE SOLUTIONS
CLECAT will host a joint webinar with the Open Logistics Foundation on 23 March from 10:00 to 11:15 CET, providing members and industry stakeholders with insights into how collaborative digital platforms can accelerate the digital transformation of the logistics sector.
The session will explore the work of the Open Logistics Foundation in building a neutral, industry-driven collaboration platform where logistics companies, technology providers and research partners jointly develop open-source solutions for supply chain operations. The initiative aims to address long-standing challenges in logistics digitalisation, including interoperability between systems, fragmented data standards and the slow uptake of digital tools across the sector.
A key focus of the webinar will be the practical implementation of the electronic consignment note (eCMR) and the role open-source solutions can play in supporting its broader adoption. By enabling companies to jointly develop and deploy shared digital tools, the Open Logistics Foundation seeks to reduce barriers to implementation and facilitate the scaling of digital documentation across international transport operations.
The foundation was established in 2021 by leading logistics companies, including Rhenus Group, DACHSER, DB Schenker and Duisburger Hafen AG. Through collaborative development of open-source software, the foundation enables companies to jointly build tools that improve operational processes, connect digital systems and help establish industry-wide standards. This approach allows participating companies to share innovation while maintaining flexibility in how solutions are deployed across different logistics networks.
The webinar will include a presentation of the Open Logistics Foundation, followed by an open discussion with participants. CLECAT supports a practical exchange of views on the opportunities and challenges of digitalisation, particularly regarding the operational implementation of eCMR and the potential of open-source approaches to support sector-wide digital uptake.
