CALL FOR EVIDENCE ON POSSIBLE SLOT RELIEF EXTENSION

On 26 April, the European Commission published a call for evidence for an amendment of the EU Slots Regulation, which should take into account the potential emergence of restrictive measures related to COVID-19, as well as to address the closure of airspace as a result of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. The call for evidence will remain open until 24 May.

Considering the unpredictable developments relating to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, the Commission proposes to extend the possibility to lower the slot use-rate by Delegated Act, if justified, as well as to ensure better coordination of the justified non-use of slots (JNUS) to ensure a consistent implementation of the common EU regime.

CLECAT has been supporting the relief measures previously introduced by the European Commission to address the COVID-19 crisis and will shortly convene to discuss the suggestions brought forward in the call for evidence.
