AIR CARGO RATES SURGED IN THE LAST WEEKS OF 2021
According to data published by CLIVE for Air Cargo Netherlands (ACN), the rates for air cargo from Europe to North America reached an unprecedented level of close to $5/kg during the last weeks of 2021.
Whilst rates have been increasing since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the figures for the end of 202 are close to three times higher than during the same weeks in 2019. Commenting on the data, CLIVE notes that, as this increase cannot be explained by a similar rise in volumes, it is most likely related to the supply chain issues faced at and around airports.
