EU DELAYS REQUIREMENT FOR NEW EXPORT HEALTH CERTIFICATES

On 10 August, the EU introduced amendments to its Animal Health Regulations and decided to delay the time from which traders must use the new Export Health Certificates (EHCs), due to be introduced from 21 August 2021 for goods exported to the EU. The extension is meant to assist third country traders in the transition to the use of the new certificates and prevent unnecessary disruption.

The EU delayed the date when the new EHCs must be signed, until 15 January 2022. It includes EHCs for all products of animal origin, live animals, germinal products and composite products. That means that current EHCs signed before 15 January 2022 can be used until 15 March 2022 for goods en route to the EU.
