TRANSPORT COUNCIL DEBATES CORPORATE VEHICLE PROPOSAL

EU Transport Ministers held an exchange of views on the proposed Regulation on Clean Corporate Vehicles during the Transport Council meeting on 8 June, revealing significant divisions amongst Member States on both the substance of the proposal and the choice of regulatory instrument.

MEMBER STATES ENDORSE COUNCIL CONCLUSIONS ON A EUROPEAN PORTS STRATEGY

Yesterday, EU Transport Ministers have approved Council conclusions on a EU Ports Strategy, reaffirming the strategic importance of ports for Europe's competitiveness, resilience, security, and energy transition. The conclusions follow the European Commission’s Ports Strategy presented in March 2026 and set out priorities for its implementation.

MALTA URGES COMMISSION NOT TO WITHDRAW COMBINED TRANSPORT DIRECTIVE REVISION

The future of the proposed revision of the Combined Transport Directive (CTD) was raised during the Transport Council meeting on 8 June under an Any Other Business item tabled by Malta. The Maltese delegation urged the European Commission not to withdraw the proposal and called for additional time to continue negotiations among Member States and the European Parliament.
