ELP EVENT ON EU CUSTOMS REFORM

The European Logistics Platform (ELP) is hosting an event entitled "EU Customs Reform: Industry Challenges and Solutions" on 26 March 2025, from 16:00 to 17:30 at the Stanhope Hotel in Brussels.

MEMBER STATES CALL FOR URGENT INVESTMENT IN DUAL-USE TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE

This week, EU Transport Ministers met in Warsaw to discuss how to strengthen the resilience of the European transport system in light of current geopolitical and security challenges. The discussions focused on the essential role of transport in supporting Europe’s security and defence, particularly in the context of Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine.

EUROPEAN SHIPPING SUMMIT 2025

On 20 March, CLECAT participated in the European Shipping Summit in Brussels. The event brought together key stakeholders from the maritime industry, policymakers, and environmental experts to discuss the future of shipping in Europe, focusing on its competitiveness, resilience and addressing its energy transition.

EC PUBLISHES RESULTS OF ETS MARITIME MONITORING STUDY

On 20 March, the European Commission published the results of two studies related to the inclusion of maritime transport into the EU ETS: the first study monitored the implementation of ETS and analyses the risk of ship evasion, and the second study focuses on the possibility to include smaller vessels into the MRV Regulation and subsequently within the scope of the ETS Directive.

TRAN COMMITTEE ADOPTS REPORT ON RIVER INFORMATION SERVICES

On 18 March, MEPs from the Transport and Tourism (TRAN) Committee adopted a report on the revision of the Directive on river information services (RIS), setting the rules for the EU inland waterways.

SMART FREIGHT WEEK 2025

This week, CLECAT attended the Smart Freight Week in Amsterdam. Organised by the Smart Freight Centre and gathering over 700 participants, the three-day conference was the opportunity to take stock of the progress made by the freight transport community in its journey towards a decarbonised future.

EP AND COUNCIL STILL FAR FROM AN AGREEMENT ON RAIL CAPACITY

On 18 March, the European Parliament’s Rapporteur on the Rail Capacity Regulation, Tilly Metz MEP (Greens, LU), provided an update to the Transport and Tourism Committee on the latest developments in the ongoing trilogue negotiations.

CLECAT ATTENDS 69TH TCG PLENARY

CLECAT attended the 69th Plenary Meeting of the Trade Contact Group on 20 March in Brussels, where the Commission and stakeholders exchanged views on ongoing customs and trade policy developments.
