CLECAT GENERAL ASSEMBLY WELCOMES NEW PRESIDENT AND REVIEWS KEY PRIORITIES FOR THE LOGISTICS SECTOR
The CLECAT General Assembly took place on 20th November in Brussels, providing an opportunity for members to reflect on the association’s action plan and initiatives, and the evolving policy landscape affecting the logistics sector. Dimitri Serafimoff, representing FORWARD Belgium, was elected as the new President of CLECAT succeeding Willem van der Schalk (DSLV). The General Assembly also welcomed new Board Members, including Joël Glusman of TLF Overseas as Chair of the Air Freight Logistics Institute and Tomas Arvidsson of SIFA as Chair of the Rail Freight Logistics Institute.
RETHINKING SUPPLY CHAINS – ESC AND CLECAT CALL FOR COLLABORATION
At the third Logistics for Europe conference in Brussels which took place on 19 November 2024, CLECAT (European Association for Forwarding, Transport, Logistics, and Customs Services) and the European Shippers' Council (ESC) brought together shippers, freight forwarders, logistics professionals, policymakers, and industry experts to address the pressing challenges of resilience, sustainability, and competitiveness in European supply chains.
CLECAT LAUNCHES ISO 14083 GUIDE FOR GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS IN FREIGHT TRANSPORT
CLECAT, the European Association for Forwarding, Transport, Logistics, and Customs Services, has published on 19 November a comprehensive guide on the application of ISO 14083, the international standard for quantifying greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in transport services.
On 19 November, members of the CLECAT Sustainable Logistics Institute met to exchange views on the latest developments regarding sustainability policies affecting transport and logistics at national and EU level. Members discussed the upcoming sustainability reporting requirements, the recent EU institutional changes and its consequences on the implementation of pending legislative files
ITF PUBLISHES REPORT ON GHG ACCOUNTING AND REPORTING IN TRANSPORT
The International Transport Forum (ITF) published this week a report evaluating the current state of GHG accounting and reporting practices in the transport sector providing recommendations to overcome the key challenges to improve transparency and consistency of GHG reporting exercises.
On Monday, 18th November, members of CLECAT’s Customs and Indirect Taxation Institute (CITI) gathered at the CLECAT office in Brussels. The meeting featured updates on critical issues, including the state of play on the EU Customs Reform, the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), the Import Control System (ICS2) Release 3, and the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
ACEA EVENT ON DECARBONISATION OF HEAVY-DUTY ROAD TRANSPORT
CLECAT joined a panel debate today co-organised by ACEA and Euractiv addressing the challenges and opportunities in transitioning to zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) in the heavy-duty vehicle (HDV) sector. The panel featured Harald Seidel, President of DAF Trucks and Chairperson of the ACEA Commercial Vehicle Board and Kristian Schmidt, Director for Land Transport at DG MOVE.
ROMANIA AND MOLDOVA SIGN AGREEEMENT TO ENHANCE SOLIDARITY LANES
On 20 November, Romania and Moldova signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Bucharest to implement coordinated border checks at the Galați-Giurgiulești crossing.
On 18 November, CLECAT participated in the opening of the ‘’Combined Transport Delivers!’’ exhibition at the European Parliament, organised by the International Union of Combined Road-Rail Transport (UIRR).
