EUROPEAN LOGISTICS PLATFORM (ELP) FORUM DEBATES KEY CHALLENGES IN THE LOGISTICS SECTOR

At the first European Logistics Platform (ELP) Forum under the new term of the European Parliament, over 80 EU policymakers and industry stakeholders gathered at the Residence Palace in Brussels to discuss the evolving challenges facing the logistics sector.

GERMANY IMPOSES LAND BORDER CONTROLS

The German Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community (BMI) informed the European Commission earlier this week that it has ordered the temporary reintroduction of border control at Germany’s land borders with France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark for six months, starting 16 September 2024.

FMC APPROVES GEMINI COOPERATION

On 9 September, the US Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) announced that the Gemini Cooperation Agreement between Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd can take effect.

ELA RELAUNCHES #ROAD2FAIRTRANSPORT CAMPAIGN

Early September, the European Labour Authority (ELA) restarted their awareness campaign on the new social rules in road freight transport, entitled #Road2FairTransport.

GERMAN CHANCELLOR CALLS FOR DELAY IMPLEMENTATION EUDR

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is advocating for a delay in implementing the new EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) aimed at preventing the sale of products linked to deforestation. Speaking at a conference in Berlin, Scholz revealed that he has discussed the issue with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, reports POLITICO.
