EC GUIDES MEMBER STATES ON SUSTAINABLE URBAN MOBILITY PLANNING

On 8 March, the European Commission adopted a Recommendation which aims to help Member States to support their cities and towns in reducing transport emissions and improving urban mobility. The 430 major cities along the trans-European transport network (TEN-T) will receive support to develop their Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs).

ITALY WANTS TO BECOME AN ENTRY-EXIT HUB FOR UKRAINE

The Italian northeast aims to becoming an entry-and-exit hub for Ukraine, which is facing blockades for transportation via the Black Sea. The facilities involved in this initiative are the ports of Trieste and Venice and the intermodal terminals in Padua and Verona.

AIR CARGO MAKES A SOFT START TO 2023

IATA released data for January 2023 global air cargo markets showing that air cargo demand declined as economic headwinds persist. Global demand, measured in cargo tonne-kilometers (CTKs*), fell 14.9% compared to January 2022 (-16.2% for international operations).
