The CLECAT Road Logistics Institute met today to exchange views on developments affecting road transport and logistics at national and EU level. Members discussed the issues related to the shortage of drivers, the revision of the Weights and Dimensions Directive as well as policy developments with regards to the Fit for 55 Package.

ITF STUDY ON CURBING THE IMPACT OF FREIGHT DELIVERIES IN CITIES

The International Transport Forum has published a study on actions to make deliveries in cities less disruptive and more sustainable. The report focuses on the street space use of freight activities, as how goods are distributed in urban environments profoundly affect metropolitan life. It further indicates that new partnerships, innovative methods, the use of data and intelligent space allocation as ways to ease the pressure on cities and their inhabitants.

US SHIPPERS FILE OVER 175 COMPLAINTS TO THE FMC

Earlier this month, the US Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) communicated on new procedures for processing charge complaints which have been filed since the enactment of the Ocean Shipping Reform Act of 2022 in June, noting that over 175 complaints against ocean carriers have been received.
