CLECAT has adopted a position paper on the new EU Aviation Strategy; which was adopted by the European Commission on 7 December. The CLECAT position welcomes the Commission’s initiative in assessing the competitiveness of European aviation and the EU’s place in a global aviation market; but stresses that actions to ensure fair global competition for European airlines must not lead to protectionism. The position paper calls for cargo issues to be fully integrated into the policy proposals which are necessary to implement the strategy’s broad goals.
