NEXT PHASE OF EMCS LAUNCHED TO ALLOW INTEROPERABILITY WITH AES

The EU Excise Movement and Control System (EMCS), monitoring excise goods like tobacco, alcohol, and energy products, has launched phase 4.1 This phase introduces interoperability with the EU Automated Export System (AES), enhancing efficiency in export operations. Since its 2011 inception and through successive updates, including the 2023 transition to paperless transactions in phase 4.0, EMCS has aimed to streamline trade and combat excise duty fraud. The latest update offers legal improvements and automated processes, providing clearer procedures for exporters and authorities. This development marks another step in digitalizing trade and enforcing excise regulations within the EU.
