CLECAT PARTICIPATES IN EURTRADENET ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN ATHENS

CLECAT took part in the EurTradeNet (ETN) Annual Conference, held in Athens on 10 and 11 September 2026, hosted by the Greek IT service provider community with the support of Greek Customs. Under the title "From Here to There,"  the event brought together representatives from business, legal and IT backgrounds to discuss the state of play of the EU Customs Reform and its practical implications for economic operators.

The first day focused on updates from Brussels institutions and the Council. Representatives from the European Commission's Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union presented the legislative timeline for the new Union Customs Code, while the Irish Presidency outlined its priorities and planned actions during its mandate. Discussions also covered risk management and information-feeding requirements linked to e-commerce flows, as well as the tools available to economic operators and their IT service providers in this context. Sessions in the afternoon addressed a range of ongoing ETN initiatives, including work related to digital transport and logistics, special procedures, and IT innovation in customs.

The second day was dedicated to smaller working-group discussions among participants, focusing on the Union Customs Code update, the broader Customs Reform, and expectations for the sector's future.

The event offered an opportunity for CLECAT to engage directly with EU institutions, national customs authorities and IT solution providers on the practical implementation of the customs reform agenda, reinforcing ongoing cooperation between CLECAT and its partner associations and stakeholders in the digital customs community. CLECAT thanks EurTradeNet for the invitation and for organising and hosting this event.
