CEF TRANSPORT CALLS ATTRACT ALMOST €3 BILLION IN FUNDING REQUESTS
On 07 October, the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) announced that it had received 246 applications requesting almost €3 billion in co-funding under the 2026 Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) Transport calls. This represents nearly 2.69 times the €1.1 billion budget available, highlighting the demand for EU support for transport infrastructure projects.
CINEA will now assess the admissibility and eligibility of the proposals, before eligible applications are evaluated by independent external experts, the European Commission and CINEA. Applicants will be informed of the results in March 2027, with grant agreements for successful projects expected to be signed by June 2027.
The selected projects will support the construction and modernisation of transport infrastructure in the EU and beyond, contributing to the development of the trans-European transport network (TEN-T) and supporting military mobility.
