CLECAT POLICY RESPONSE ON REVISION ON CO2 STANDARDS FOR HDV
CLECAT has published its policy response to the Commission proposal revising the CO2 standards for new heavy-duty vehicles. The proposal aims to strengthen the CO2 standards for new trucks and buses, to reach 90% emission reduction by 2040, with intermediate targets for 2030 (43%) and 2035 (64%).

MOLDOVA JOINS EU’S CEF PROGRAM
On 9 May, Transport Commissioner Vălean and Moldova's Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Lilia Dabija, signed an agreement in Chisinau, associating Moldova to the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program. The agreement will allow Moldova to apply for EU funding for projects of common interest in the transport, energy, and digital sectors.

EU IMPOSES TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS ON UKRAINIAN PRODUCTS
On 2 May, the European Commission imposed temporary restriction on the import of wheat, maize, rapeseed, and sunflower seed from Ukraine in Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania. The primary objective of these restrictions is to alleviate the logistical bottlenecks experienced in these five countries due to the influx of Ukrainian products. Transit will not be affected by these restrictions.

AIR CARGO DEMAND REMAINS WEAK IN MARCH
On 3 May, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) reported that the global air cargo markets in March 2023 experienced a continued decline in comparison to the same period in 2022. The demand fell by 7.7% in cargo tonne-kilometers (CTKs), which was a slight improvement from February (-9.4%) but still lower than pre-COVID levels (-8.1%).

ACI EUROPE URGES FOR A ROBUST SLOTS REGULATION REVISION
Airports International Council (ACI) Europe recently published a letter to Commissioner Vălean on the revision of the EU Airport Slot Regulation. ACI thanked the Commissioner for the leadership shown by the Commission in beginning the revision process and tabling ambitious ideas in order to bring the Regulation up to date and to adapt to today’s and tomorrow’s aviation markets.
